Company history

1978  
1978 - Former Atlas Copco employee Valere Maes starts his own company: MAES Compressoren. In the early days, the main focus lies on servicing and maintenance of stationary electrical compressors and compressed air installations. In the seventies, compressor installations are generally built with reciprocating air compressors (large piston compressors).
That very same year (1978), he gains the official and exclusive Ingersoll Rand dealership for stationary (electric) air compressors.
1980  
  1980 - Monique van Meirhaeghe, Valere's wife, joins the company to take on various responsibilities in purchase, administration and sales.
  1982
1982 - The first employee is hired and put on the payroll.  
1985 1985 - MAES Compressoren launches a rental division. Customers can rent a series of portable air compressors. The new service offers higher flexibility and is tailored to the needs of the customers during maintenance or installation overhauls.
1990  
1990 - The company keeps growing and now has 3 employees.
1992  
1992 is an important year for Maes Compressoren. Valere's son, Filip, joins the company. He graduated as an Industrial Engineer in Electromechanics and has a degree in Business Economics. Filip mainly focuses on the commercial interests of the company.
  1996
In 1996, Maes signs an agreement with the Ingersoll Rand Construction and Mining Group (CMG) and becomes the official Belgian portable compressor dealer.
1998  
1998 - Apart from its repair and servicing activities, the company now also focuses on complete industrial compressed air installations. As a part of these turn-key projects, the company installs miles of compressed air piping. Maes Compressoren is one of the first to use SimplAir (TESEO) high tech extruded aluminum air piping.
1999 1999 - Official Ingersoll Rand dealership for both stationary and portable air compressors in East and West Flanders, Belgium.
  2000
2000 - Because of the important number of customers wanting to trade their old machine for a new one, management decides to remarket the used compressors. Within the same year, an export division is started up.
2002 2002 - Maes Compressoren in Deinze, near Ghent (Belgium), employs 13 people.
  2005
2005 - Official dealership for Ingersoll Rand power generators.
2007  
2007 - Maes Compressoren starts up a new and independent company. Its core business will be the sale of second hand compressors. The new company is called MACHINERY RESALE bvba. Its creation is a milestone in the world of used construction equipment sales.  
2008  
2008 - Business is booming. Maes Compressoren expands and employs 25 people.
2009 2009 - The company continues growing. Investment partners GIMV and VECTIS join the ranks.
2010 2010 - Other professionals in the compressed air industry join Maes Compressoren's management team. The number of employees rises to 30 people.

Filip Maes and his wife Sabine Beel join forces with Henk Uphoff to build a worldwide network for used equipment. Their knowledge and experience in the compressed air industry combined with their management skills makes Machinery Resale a leading, reliable and independent supplier of used construction equipment.

               
The plans for a 22.000 m² yard and a 5.500 m² warehouse in Waregem, along the E17 motorway Ghent - Kortrijk, are on the table. 2012
2011  
2011 - Machinery Resale is now a special member of DUMA, leading portal to Dutch exporters of used equipment and machinery - www.usetec.nl.
2011 - From 6 to 8 April 2011, Machinery Resale attends its first trade fair for used equipment and machinery in Cologne, Germany.
Q3 - 2011  
3rd quarter 2011 - Machinery Resale starts building a dedicated international fleet of large portable air compressors to provide a rental service all over Europe. The new department is called MR Air Force.
July 2012  
In just two weeks time, the entire fleet - more than 850 machines and 80 trucks - is moved to the new premises in Waregem.
